When the 2010 Giants — of New York or otherwise — won the series last week and news reports reminded us that it was a feat they had not accomplished since 1954, the year I was born, it resonated with me. I still have that little wooden bat with the Giants pennant that Bobby shared with me, buried away in a box of childhood treasures that has survived the years, and I felt a new appreciation at having visited Cooperstown that day in 1961, and of a swell kid on the bus.”
